Default Anyone used grip-shifters for throttle or clutch?

I'm trying to optimize my bar set-up, too many levers! Was wondering if anyonne has used mountain bike grip shifters for the throttle or clutch control? Seems like all you'd have to do is remove the shifter index spring and then you'd have smooth cable control devices that weren't in the way of everything else. Let me know if you've tried this and if it worked or not.
Cheers, Geoff

I think the easiest way to clear your bars is a dual pull brake lever, you can also remove your front derailleur and eliminate that shifter as well.

I know zoombicycles (powerking) offers a brake/clutch combo thing that is basically just a brake lever with rapid fire shifter on it..the shifter is used for the clutch..
