Default Pedal Cranks

I've had one clutch customer that reported back and said his pedals just barely cleared the housing. It only sticks out .050 more that the factory piece.

Does anyone know if the 3-piece cranks are narrower than the single piece forged cranks?

There are some bikes out there with very short spindles in their BB's. They can get a longer spindle...
