Default not returning to idle

my engine seems to remain at high rpms for a quite few seconds before slowing down to an idle. all carb functions seem to check out, could it be an air leak between the carb and intake?

so you welded the carb to the new intake, or your intake to you engine block? or both?

Could be a sticky slide as well. But if its an air leak and you spray some wd-40 over where it's leakin the idle will change indicating the leak und vhere it is!

yup, did just that, its not the manifold i made but where the carb attaches to it, i guess an o ring down in there might help, i dont want to goo it all up with silicon! lol, its a junky clamp arrangement!
