Check for a spark... if there is none, it is always the mag-coil in the side of the engine!! (they go bad all the time!)

the first thing that went on me is the intake gasket after my first semi-long ride . if you cant see the gasket material on the top or bottom of the intake its probably blown . and will have to go to the part store and buy a sheet of felpro gasket paper. when the piston goes up and dosn it makes pulses in the intake which alternate from vacume to pressure and the cheap gaskets they come with give way sometimes more offen than none

Check for spark.
Check to make sure you have adequate fuel flow to the float bowl. (push the tickler down until fuel flows out of it)

If those two don't do it, take the intake off, and use some RTV or other silicone and seal both sides of the gasket, or what's left of it.

so what i am getting here is ether:

1 i am not getting any spark
or
2 i am not getting proper compression (the seal)

so how would i check if i get any spark?

and if i take off the intake tube (going from carb to piston) should i expect any thing flying off like a spring or something like that.

i really appreciate all the help thank you

Try it again with full choke, when it starts to sputter slowly open the choke to 1/2, once its warmed up after running for a minute open the choke to full open (down) position. let me know if this works. Mac

It is flooded mine has done the same thing a few times. I just hold the throttle wide open and pedal no choke and fuel off. It will start and blubbers till it is clear. No worry some of the petcocks are not good and the carb weeps down the intake and fills the crankcase. Have fun, Dave

PS: You may to have to pedal quite a few feet, keep going.

To check for spark, take out the spark plug & put it back into the wire-boot.
Then spin the rear wheel while holding the spark plug base to the engine head. (make sure the clutch is OFF so that you are spinning engine too!)
The engine will turn over real easy with the plug out.
Either the plug will be making sparks, or it won't...
tell us what you find.
