Question Why not?

There's a pretty large market for motorised bicycles.

Why doesn't someone make an internally geared coasting hub for the left hand side of the bicycle, making jackshafts inferior? It almost seems too easy... like a bicycle hub but with a conventional sprocket on the right for pedaling, and a disk-brake style adapter on the left (so you could use any kit sprocket) attached to an internal gearing system?

I'm afraid the market is not that large.

So, you just flip the hub over, so the 3 speed is on the left, and then what do you use to pedal?

On my bike i have it set up on the right with a shifter kit. just making note that it works in either derection. im using it so that i dont have the jam on the pedals to start. the only thing im not sure about is the durability. i ran the sturmey drum 3 speed on the same bike with no issues. i hope this will be better since it doesnt use pawls.

Oh and a side note. the driver side is splined so it should be pretty easy to make a large cog for it.
