Arkansas Other Types of Motorcycles - AR Scooter & Moped Info - DMV Guide

"If it has less than 50 cc, and has an automatic transmission, it's classified as a motorized bicycle."

"To operate a motorized bicycle, you'll need to be at least 10 years old and have a Motorized Bicycle Certificate. (You don't need to have this certificate if you already have a Class A, B, C, D, M, or MD license, or an Intermediate or Learner's permit.)"

Ten years old with certificate (or any age with valid DL), no max speed, 50cc limit. I think I love Arkansas. Note that this also classifies mopeds and scooters under 50cc as motorized bicycles.

Edit: Oh, there's some lights and helmets stuff at the end of that page, too.

Moped laws revisited in Stuttgart
By Leigh Kreimeier
Daily Leader

With school starting Monday, the Stuttgart Police Department is asking parents, guardians and students to become aware of the laws surrounding mopeds.

“I have noticed a lot since football (practice) started and once school starts it will double,” Stuttgart Police Chief Mike Smith said.

There are a number of driver’s licenses available, including a motorized bicycles certificate. This is a restricted certificate issued to persons 10 years of age and older.

The applicant must pass a knowledge, vision and skills test. The skills test can be waived for an applicant successfully completing a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Riders Course within the preceding 90-day period prior to application.
