Disk brake kits for Trek?

I have a Trek Navigator 300 and I'm looking into buying a motor kit for the bike. But I just realized an issue that my brakes would not be able to handle the speeds with a motor. The bike is sluggish already just pedaling around town and even without a motor I would feel safer with a brake kit.
My question is can someone point me in the right direction for a better braking system than the one I have now?
