I tell ya something that really looks jerry-rigged...the spring tensioners and auto adjust star wheel in drum brakes. If ya rigged the tensioner up to springs like in drum brakes and run a spindle thru the tensioner wheel the danger of that mount going into your spokes would be gone. I have almost 2 inches clearance I don't see it going into the spokes anyhow but I like the idea of steady pressure yet not the rigid pressure the mount gives. Just look at the other side the tensioner over there is spring loaded nobody tryin to reinvent that.
