Default Dellorto Carb What is the right size?

Hi, I am interested in buying a Dellorto. I have heard that the Dellorto SHA 16/16 is a good carb for the 66/80cc. Is this the best one or would the 15/15 or even the 14/14 be correct/best? I am about 400 ft above sea level and have only external mods. Do you guys think I will need to alter the jet size? If so what would be some good sizes to try? I know you can do the solder and drill thing, but I figure I will order a few jets when I order the carb. To those of you that have the Dellorto--how is it? Thanks

Thanks for the reply mick29! No real performance increase? Bummer. Do you have any modifications or is your motor stock? Do you know what size Dellorto you have?
Thanks again

Myself and a couple fellows I did bikes for tried the 16mm Dellorto and, like Mick, noticed no increase in performance over the stock one. I'm a great fan of solder and drill on an NT.

Thanks for the responses! There have been mixed reviews on the Dellorto in other threads (more bad than good). My NT leaks along with some other minor problems. I have used some of the threads for info on how to fix some of the carb problems (all kinda minor). Since I planned on buying a new one, I figured I would try and upgrade if possible.

I love the New Style NT Carb, in some other companys they call them the Speed Carb. It runs alot better then the stock NT carb, the New Style has a bigger venture intake, were you get more air, so they lut a bigger jet to give it more gas, works verry well

I built a very fast Italian moped that revs out past 10k and pulls 40(I need to gear it up) and I am running a dellorto 16.16 sha. I think if I had unlimited funds though I would go with a 16-18mm dellorto phbg. I can't stand the stock carb and I think it is the weakest link on these Chinese engines.

dellorto PHBG AS 16mm carburetor
