On the upside, it will all but disappear in a week or two =) And campus security is good enough that a U-lock/chain will keep it safe. It's the cheap-ass cable locks and the floods of fixie hipsters who don't lock their bikes at all that take the bullets. =) That and the rich kids with the 5-7k carbon/tri bikes, but they kind of deserve it too; those aren't commuter rides.

I can cut a cable lock with wire cutters in about 5-10 minutes... Always use a hardened chain and high grade padlock.

Very old thread. There's Kevlar sleeved cables now. Still one should use both a 15mm+ keyed cable and U lock along with common sense. I also have a concealed tracker, alarm and cellphone notifier. Limit the time you leave your secured bike unattended in public. Store your bike in a secure structure. When I'm done riding for the day my bike comes in my house.
