How do you guys clean the outside of your engines? Spray it down with a hose? Wipe it down with rags? I've been rocking a custom matte black paint job (dirt) for awhile now and it's starting to get pretty grimy. Thanks for any suggestions. :)

Simple green and a shop towel. Do not use brake cleaner if it's painted. You can use engine degreaser, but you have to be careful to not get it in places like the carb and magneto cover. Either way, wipe it down with a damp rag to get the residue off. Otherwise dirt will continue to stick.

I just use some gas and a rag - never water as mags don't like it.

if you keep up with it before it bakes on, it is pretty easy

Clean? What's that?
Mud is good it holds the bike together. I am going to also look to clean the mud off from trail riding. But functionally it is really only the brakes and transmission parts for functionality that I have most concern for.

There will be a day when I paint and have it waxed shine, just not yet.
