Does anybody know anywhere to stay cheaply near to Oshkosh for the Airventure week? End of July, start of August.

Is this it, Ludwig? http://www.airventure.org/

Man, I wanna go! 16 hr drive though. (I am in Connecticut) Looks cool. There is a WWI air show in Rhinebeck NY http://www.oldrhinebeck.org/ If you have some sort of lay over or are hanging out in the states at all, this is a great show and let me know. Carol and I would meet you there. Only a 3 hr drive.

The gift shop has the leather caps too, snork.

When I go up there I just camp on grounds and live with the planes for 3 or 4 days. Do the same thing at Sun-n-fun in Florida also. It's a great time.

If you fly in take a sleeping bag and sleep under the wings. That's what we used to do at the the Florida Sun-n-Fun. Nothing like waking up to the smell of someone's coffee brewing and bacon frying, aviation fuel and needing to find a porta-potty real quick.
Wow, does that bring back some old memories. :)

We will have one member of our small party who views camping much as I view cutting my legs off with a penknife, otherwise we would do that.

Otherwise, I would be entirely happy. As for flying in, I don't have a plane apart from the one American Airways etc will use to get me to America.

We think we have somewhere to stay anyway, now we just need to find a carrier that doesn't want an arm and a leg for the flights.

Cool Ludwig. Will this be your first visit here?

Early interview with the Beatles, conducted by an American reporter;

"How did you find America?"

John Lennon; "Turned left at Greenland "

(cracked me up) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fl9k3gL6vxw

I remembered that as a serious quote until I just looked it up just now.

Safe trip and post lots of pics!

Dan,
Sounds like a good take. I'll have to look into that.

Sounds like you have made arangements but my thought is that I would post an add in a local Oskosh news paper. Just state room or rooms wanted for Oshkosh show. Include your e-mail.
Worked for me when visiting London.

We're mostly set now, it just revolves a little around what time my brother can get away from work. I'm still trying to work out how to get the Strat across undamaged and whether it will pass the CITES business. It should do, it's pre the agreement, being a 1987 build.

I'd like to take in a short track or flat track, but it doesn't look like there's anything within 200 mile, and then it's a week after we leave. Shame, really, I'd like to have seen Peoria, it's one of those Names.
