Im looking at doing another build and this time im going for a more boardtrack racer theme. I plan on using a monarck II fork to give it a more vintage look, and was wondering what kind of brakes i could use on it. From what i can see basically only drum and disk brakes can work, are drum brakes okay for a motorbike? I would rather do drum because the disk breaks kind of kill the vintage look, but are they hard to install or even safe?

There are quite a few devoted drum brake users here. I'm no expert on them, I run disc but I agree that disc would just look out of place on a BTR.

I'm sure some drum folks will chime in soon and give you some advice on how to install. I'm pretty sure you'll need to relace your rim to use a drum but wait for the guys in the know to help you out.

Good luck.

Drums CAN be excellent brakes depending on the style and how they are adjusted.
Lots of users here from what I see.
I like them myself, but I'm cheap and they cost.
