Just pulled a good size samsung dc motor out of a 1989 ge vcr. It has a 4 mounting holes, has a nice weight and runs super quiet and has good torque at 12v. I want to mount it on the magneto cover and drive it directly by the spindle as a generator. Not sure of what voltage normal rpms would achieve, but hoping it'll be enough power to run one or a few 1100ma cree leds, backlight and maby a usb charging port.
