It is just the way the engine is 'designed' the important thing is to get your port timing correct.
Maybe you should try reading the Tuners Handbook?
getting the Dremel into the transfer ports and removing the casting dags is what you want to do next.

JB Weld is good stuff, I have used it on occasion to repair things and it has worked well. But when someone says "I sealed my carb on my intake with JB weld" or something similar, I start to wonder. People people seem to advocate using JB weld in ways that just don't make sense to me. It's great stuff, but not a silver bullet for every problem....

I actually agree, I was never sure it the story was true or not. I've used it for repairs that I was able to gusset the repair with layers of steel. Torsion repairs on a shaft seem almost far fetched.
