Hi I have about 80 miles on my bgf 50cc flat head kit, and the muffler cap fell off. I didn't notice the nut holding it on, so I didn't tighten it and locktite it. I instantly lost all power (even before I stopped to pick it up), and it won't idle. I found the cap, it was crushed by a car. I straitened it out a bit and taped it on enough to seal it, and it idled and ran ok up to about half throttle, with about 50% of its power. I tested it for about 10 minutes. The 6 inch long pipe in the cap was bent and kinked a little. At the end of the 10 minutes, the tape blew a hole so I stopped. Would the cap coming off have damaged the breaking in motor? I am using about 22:1 gas to oil, and the power loss happened the same time the strait pipe sound started. I was going about 20, down hill and shut the motor off as soon as I noticed the difference. So would this have damaged anything? Would a standard bgf 49/50cc muffler work as a replacement? (he says it fits) and fix the problem? I can take pics of the broken muffler and the top of the piston if it helps, but I don't want to go deeper into the motor if I don't have to. Also, are the cylinder head gaskets glued so I would have to replace them after getting to the piston?
