Default schwinn swindler grips

swindler.jpeg
love the original grips on my swindler but.....
they are both 7/8th's. need to get one to 1" for the throtttle.
the usual soapy solution wont cut it. sandpaper on a dowel in the drill press ?
anybody been down this road before ?

Try putting one in the close dryer for 10/15 minutes and see if it stretches on while hot. My have to still use WD40. That's how I put vinyl seat covers on that are super tight, so it may work for grips.

i'll give it a try when it warms up.
it is 9* here right now and probably around 20* in my garage !!
by the time i get from the drier to the bike all will be cooooold.
i keep a spray bottle of dish liquid/water for grip install removal that wouldn't work for this job.
