Well I thought I could ride w/o a working BMS (leds) doesn't light up anymore on my 48v 15 Ah LifePo4 Battery Pack Took a 8 mile ride. When I got home I smelled something melting/burning. It was the BMS that overheated and started melting the bike bag I had it in. I quickly took the battery out of the bag and threw it in the garden thinking it would explode. Nothing happened but it sure gave me a scare. I've had the battery a over 4 years and purchased it from Ping. Emailed Ping and he responded the next day. Luckily he has an updated BMS with a heavy duty heat sink. Just have to wait for it to arrive from China..duh.
