Have a "80cc" unit that has a large ring gear that somehow was machined too much on the outside diameter so that it was barely meshing with the small gear-just a disaster waiting to happen. The supplier is sending me a new correctly machined gear. Have the old gear removed using the supplied
tool. Noticed that there is a inner bearing clutch part fitted over the large ring gear and press fitted
onto a clutch part on the other side. Inside in the inner race is the little bearings. Was wondering if there is an easy way to separate these pieces so that I can fit them over the new ring gear and was also wondering what was the easiest way of pressing them back together. Noticed that the clutch pads on the old ring gear do pop out easily and should be no problem in snapping them into the new gear. Would assume that the small loose bearings can be held in place in the inner bearing clutch part with heavy grease prior to attempting to press the pieces back together. Noticed that the old assembly had a lot of play between the races and the bearings so would imagine that it would be important to press everything together so that there would be a minimum of play between the brearings and the races. -Thanks
