I recently had a problem with a exhaust leak due to my hitting the pipe on a parking block while riding. This bent the exhaust flange and caused a recurring leak that I could not seal since the flange was bent so badly.
I tried surfacing the flange with a file and also tried beating it flat again, but due to the shape it would not return to shape no matter how I tried.
Since I'm cheap, I searched for a way to repair the flange and this is what I finally came up with...

If you look closely, you will see another flange behind the stock pipe. I simply stacked the new, thicker flange (from a pocketbike pipe) behind the stock bent part and welded it into place from inside the opening. This allowed me to get an airtight seal even around the bolt holes. I also used a second gasket from a weedeater engine since they are MUCH better quality than the china gasket.
It now is sealed and works great!
Just my cheap way of addressing my problem. Maybe this will help someone else if they smack the pipe like I did.
