Top speed?

I was just wondering, what's the average top speed of the 66cc engines without mods? I can just barely get to 40mph with mine if I pedal to help it accelerate, once it gets there, the motor will keep it at 40, I have a 36t rear sprocket. Is it normal to be getting 40 without any mods or did I just get really lucky and get a good engine?

Sounds about right for a 36T. My modded China doll with a 36T does about 46-47 on flat. Not heavily modded by any means. And my buddy who has a 36T and some port work hits about 42-43.

I have built about 180 bone stock bikes to sell to the public. The average speed of these bikes out of the box is about 32-35 mph. Wheel size and rider weight and sprocket size will determine what the bike can do without any mods.

I'm having a bit of trouble bedlieving these claims- granted my 66 is nearing 8 years now and still has a 6mm stud bottom end- but with an aluminum billet and updated stock NT Speed carb, NARROW tires 27 x 1 1/4 on aluminum wheels-

I can't get much over 35 on the analogue speedo

with a 34 alloy sprock directly bolted to a wide flanged fixie hub

She cruises pretty well at 30, though the vibrations could be better, and I'm thinking about a newer mount-

but once you get to 35 it doesn't feel there's much left, and I;m not worried about trying either.

I think your bike is about the average nashville kat. You probably did not match up or port your intake to match the carb. There are ways to grab a few miles per hour but with a smaller sprocket you should have gained a little top end speed.
