cant figure out this chain

I somewhat understand how to attach this chain but not with this rivet in the way

You need to get a chain breaker and press the pin back in. Sometimes you can get away with a pair of vice grips to put it back together.

A nice C-clamp will also do the trick to jam the pin back in

(but I would just use a hacksaw other wise it could catch on some thing)
