Hey, didnt finish my first build yet but am starting another. I wana build a whizzer clone with the WC1 kit available on ebay for $800. I ALREADY know the quality is poor and needs alot of work to be reliable, BUT I know some one with a legit 1948 Whizzer thats willing to part with it. due to the condition it wil be a parts bike. Does anyone know if it is safe to order the tiawon made whizzer kit? is it a scam or will I really recieve the kit. Id hate to spend $800 + $150 shipping and recieve a little 66cc HT engine.

Kevin,
This past summer I ordered a Whizzer NE-5 cylinder kit from Mr Joe Lin. I enjoyed excellent correspondence with this gentleman and will buy from him again as he has many Whizzer NE-R parts for sale on Ebay. Oh, and I recieved the cylinder, in great condition, about 3 or 4 days later. Pretty amazing service considering these parts came 3/4 away around the world!
Mr Lin has a good rep on Ebay and his rating bears this out. Having said that, we all know the ins and outs of the modern Whizzer motor. This will have to be taken into consideration and planned accordingly. Another consideration is that there is a finite amount of modern day whizzer motor kits out there left.........There are many excellent Whizzer specialists who can help you with your build as you progress along. Mr Guenther being one who can usually be found on the other site. Good luck with that build and hope to see it when she is all done!

Take Care,
Mike

I ordered a new Whizzer motor kit from Joe about 2 1/2 weeks ago, and it arrived this past Monday and Tuesday. There wasn't a screw missing. With all the stories around about Taiwan motors being "junk", when there was a problem with the valves, the impression that a lot of people get is that this is $800.00 worth of low-rent crap. In fact, that's far from the truth. While the nuts and bolts, mount hardware, wiring harness and switch gear are merely better than average from Taiwan, the motor and drive parts are superbly made. Even if I have to upgrade the valves and seats, I'm still impressed with the quality of the casting and finishing. For all I know, the problem has already been solved...it involves metallurgy and time will tell!

I don't know about the Whizzer product, wish I had one. But I do know about scooters. Kymco is one of the better scooter brands out there and they are from Taiwan. Got to keep in mind that even though Taiwan is Chinese, it also operates outside the influence of communism which is the greatest source of mediocrity I know of.

Taiwan can deliver manufactured goods as good as any other country and usually at a lower cost. Just my opinion, but I wouldn't worry much about it.

The counterfeiting got started back with the Whizzer USA WC-1's, the clones where called cruzzer, cyclone. none of these profits where going to Whizzer USA. But they were Whizzer motorbikes. My posting of how come no one posted any pics was to dmb's (Dennis) 3 Whizzer USA motorbikes. My Whizzer's are Whizzer USA motorbikes.

I agree with your statement. The engines produced by Polar Motors were sold "out the back door" so to speak. I did not mean to question your post. I wish that Whizzer USA would have had better luck in the marketplace.
