My wife has been my best sounding board during my recent return to bicycle building.
She wanted me to remind all of you that : Recycling is the way to go.
She has found a new love...... The scrap yard....
You know, that place at the edge of town where we take our scrap metal for recycling.
A treasure chest of used bicycle parts.
All at per pound prices.
Where else will you find a 1950 Schwinn for $5 ?
Have some fun , try it, it will change your out look on what is a good deal.
You will be doing your bit for the environment as well.
For me , nothing is cooler than finding an old machine that has been forgotten or deem'd scrap, rubbing some love into it then putting it back into service.
You might get lucky and find a fully lugged frame. Nothing cooler......

Here is a good example of a diamond in the ruff.
This Trek 930 came out of one of those piles of bicycles.
$7 took it home that's SEVEN DOLLARS.
The bike needed a miner tune up and a front tube.....

Colonial Coast USA.
Police auctions are good too. I bought as I remember a lot of 15 bikes for $75. Stolen/ recovered/unclaimed. Got several builds and a BUNCH of great parts from the group.
