Does anyone know some good quality bearings for a jackshaft that will not immediately fail under load? What type of bearings do you use on your jackshaft?

I’ve had good luck with the hardware store grease-able pillow block style, plus the pillow blocks can be convenient to mount (albeit a little “clunky” looking).

I also found a sealed stock Harley front wheel bearing (3/4” bore) that I trust. I don’t recall the part number, but they’re common and fairly inexpensive on Ebay. I think a pair where like $25 - $30 shipped just a couple years ago.

By freezing the bearings overnight and then mildly heating the frame I was able to press fit them into vintage American standard sized bottom bracket, that’s pretty convenient too!
