ARIZONA
I had a few extra dollars burning a hole in my pocket from a very good weekend of selling at the swapmet that I just had to do something with before I did something crazy with it like pay bills or put it in the bank. So I fueled up the bike and with visions of becoming Arizona's newest millionaire I headed out to the AVI casino in Nevada. Heading out of Kingman on Old RT. 66 across the desert in the cool early morning hours is great there is no body out on the road to bother you except for a few suicidal jackrabbits that run out in front of you and then freeze up as soon as your head light hits them. To get to the AVI you cruse out RT. 66 through Oatman and turn off on boundary cone rd. From the top of sitgraves pass down to the Avi casino it's all down hill the pass elevation is 3500 feet and the Avi is only 540 feet. The Avi has a gas station there at the casino which should be good news to any one running with a stock 1/2 gallon tank as this run is a 114 mile round trip from Kingman AZ. I DID NOT end up becoming Arizona's newest millionaire but I DID have a good time a good buffet meal and GREAT ride.

Well, you didn't become AZ's next homeless guy either...sounds like it was a fun day, especially the buffet.

Nice bike!

Great idea for a ride. If memory serves, Avi is on a nice spot on the river and its more relaxing than going into Laughlin.

Man that brings back memories. The Avi is a great hotel/casino and it's right next to a road that crosses the river into AZ. Last time I was there, they had a chili cookoff, crafts fair, motorcycle show, sand drags and a kite festival all on the same weekend. Geez, talk about good eats. All the chili was great and there was one vendor selling hemangous fry bread, drenched in butter and liberally sprinkled with cinammon/sugar. Oh, to die for. Also found some good deals on native jewelry. (^)

Shucks. We'll be up in Vegas in early October, but don't have the time to drive down. Only got 4 nights and we'll be with family. The wife wanted to make an overnight stay at the Avi. :( Maybe next year.
