Oh yeah, it's ugly. OMG, it's soooo ugly. But it works.

I had a couple extra standard chain tensioners, and an idea I had to try. I beat one piece straight, PC-7'ed a bolt in place on another piece, went to ACE and tried to explain to my friendly hardware man what spring I thought I needed and why.

The end result is Frankenstein's Chain Tensioner. Pics follow.

I like it! Honestly, I really do enjoy the looks of the shade tree, home engineered contraption.

Important part is it works. Some spare parts and $2 spring? Proof of concept, purty work.
