Hello, and sorry if this has been covered a million times, but.. I got my bike running today and putted for a while, everything is settling in and moving so I have to start tightening it up. Runs Great, but I have some oil around the head gasket, do you have to tighten the head down durring break in and what pound/torque, I dont want to screw it up to tight or loose. Thanks in advance... It would help if we knew what engine you have. 2 stroke? 4 stroke? Chinese HT?

Assuming you have a Chinese 2 stroke HT, (Happy Time) engine, 80cc with 8mm cylinder studs, they need to be torqued to about 120 to 140 inch pounds. If you have the chrome acorn nuts, take them off and pitch them. Replace them with hex nuts, preferably the shouldered type.
You spark plug also needs to be tight.
Good Luck.

My 66cc HT had 6mm head studs, so I went with 60 inch pounds.

Be careful to note, those are INCH pounds, not FOOT pounds!

And yes, a lot of people do have to re-torque the head nuts after a few rides. Mine have not loosened up yet, but I still keep an eye on them.

Good luck, and grats on getting your ride running!
