I have resorted to adding a sleeve of 3/16" ID line and fuel line over that.

As long as i am griping, why does the fuel line that comes with the kit react to gasoline and turn brittle? I try not to use it for the sleeve.

no biggie, just annoying

I usually use fatter line from tank to filter then thinner line to carb.

sometimes I heat a piece of wiring shrink wrap to fitting to thicken it

if all you have is small hose, then dip it in boiling water for a few seconds and it will stretch then retract once it's on

boiling water, that too is a great idea - and since the big end end is the fuel filter, i can do that in a convenient location.

as to the grips on versize bars, sometimes I have been able use my airhose under the edge of the grip to "inflate" it slightly as I put it on and off. I have also used a small amount of liquid dish soap on the handle bar, much like mounting a tire.

whether a grip would soften and expand would depend on what it is made of - wouldn't hurt to try
