ihave read what seems to be 100s of pages about CDI. while wandering the universe I stumbled into J E Howell's model engine site. he has a transistor ignition (tim-6) that may work on a HT. it needs 6v power, from our mag. uses hall effect for trigger. the kit is $26. send help! I don't want to buy more $10POS.:-||:-||

OKC, OK
I just put a new plug wire on my $10 POS and it's doing great! I don't mind spending money and time on a project if there's a good payback --- if not, I just keep the money and waste the time!!

Good luck!

If by "$10 POS." you mean the standard bicycle kit CDI there is not
much wrong with it and they are very reliable.

ALL the racers are using the stock CDI
The most powerful Arrow Motorized Cycles race bikes use the "POS" CDI
and it works well for them.
The stock CDI will perform well and if a replacement is ever needed it will cost less than 1/3 of the overpriced placebos that are sold. Don't be fooled by fantastic claims of increased horsepower and better performance by sellers of the so-called improvements. One name comes to mind and it is named after a fast running animal.
