Hey guys,

I was in RadioShack yesterday, and found that they're getting rid of a pretty good digital camcorder for cheap. It's a DXG 5B6V, and is less than $40. I used some hot-glue and Velcro straps to rig up a helmet cam. I'm happy with the quality. Here's a test video...starts off somber as I was visiting my Dad's grave...was gonna place a candle, but it got windy/rainy. The camera vids in 720p, but the quality of this vid was set to WVGA to save on bandwidth for uploading; the HD mode is pretty sweet though, and it's the mode I'll keep it set on for "dash-camming". The cam takes SD cards. It comes with 4xAAA batteries, but also takes an optional Lithium Ion battery (ordered one on eBay with charger for about $16). A $12 16gb SD lasts about 3.5-hours for HD vids. So, I plan on using like a black box, and although I haven't had any trouble with ******* drivers, the size and visibility of the cam may discourage aggressive behavior.

Nice vid bro...might try a piece of tape over the mic tho...is that the north end of bpt?
Hey Wickedest1, hadn't seen your reply 'til now. Nope, this vid is from Long Island...Setauket/Stony Brook to be precise. I'm actually U/Ling a vid I took last night in Bridgeport...from the ferry to Fairfield.

I have since hot-glued some headphone-foam over the mic...sounds good.

South end of B'Poh...the BAD part!

LabRat,

Oh, I have an iPhone...and it's smashed up good...I'm like the cobbler whose children have no shoes...I actually repair iDevices on the side, but I almost always have broken screens on mine since I can't be bothered to repair my own. I actually used a mini-bungee to strap my iPhone to my handlebars a couple of days ago to use it as a speedometer while I tested different rear-sprockets.

Very cool, Paul! Yep, I'm sold. I love the deal I got on my HD cam, but those glasses seem more trouble-free. Gonna get a pair and try 'em out. Added bonus: I'll probably get laid more often too (and hopefully by girls!) since they look like chick-magnets.
