Wow guys, interesting, your last post MT,was is a good info page. Learned how to read code #, and how the ignition does its thing. I've got the engine running, so if,if it loses spark I'll know how to trouble shoot. Thx!!

Google has the Briggs Magnetron Patent Info:

http://www.google.com/patents/US5024204

Then it is best to view as PDF

or down load as PDF if you want a copy as it looks easier to see diagram of circuit.

You can get lost in this, but what I did notice was that control winding CNW (is like the pickup coil not in the standard magneto) and CHW as usual is the charge winding. The primary and secondary of step up transformer at the end of the circuit, but its other parts are solid state with the automatic advance of the timing being part of it all.

Also there is this PDF for installation retrofit of Magnetron:

Now that I know that there is this sensing rpm coil in the magneto of the Briggs part, I just wonder if the cheaper one with the the module and wires only needs to mount near the flywheel as it too has a rpm sensor coil inside the module. You know you just keep the magneto you have and only get a module, does it sense the rpm in anyway or not?

The one in question is this one:
