Build A 12volt Generator

so all you do is start the engine and you have power for lights? how's it working for you?
That's all there is to it. I had the led headlite, and I do have brake lites, turn sigWhere the generator is outside, it does not make the engine lose power. The only thing I don't have yet is a horn.
I am wondering, if this will work to charge the battery and then I'll have a horn.

On the lights all you need is to wire them with a switch. If you just want a headlite, headlite + switch and you're in business.
There are cheap lites out there, here is 1 and it even has a halo.

if the generator puts out the 12 volts or more , it should be able to add juice to the battery. if it puts out less than 12 volts, then no that won't work. and then you would probably need a regulator as well, if it puts out more than 14 volts.
i tried a 12 v generator on my bike , the one that fits in the magneto area but it seems like it altered the timing and didnt run well at all ,, i didnt have a load on the generator maybe that was the trouble , anyway i took it off and the bike ran fine again

The generator will be belt driven, attached to a pulley on my jackshaft from my predator engine.
