Hello,

I am looking for a recommendation for an inexpensive mountain bike ($200 to $300 range) to mount a GEBE. I want a bike that will make it super easy to install the kit, as I have no experience whatsoever installing motors. The GEBE's do not look too difficult to install...I don't want to have to make any modifications. I am 6 ft tall and want a bike of solid construction that will feel comfortable and safe cruising at 25 mph.

Are Diamondback or Mongoose bikes any good?

Thanks in advance!

I mounted a GEBE kit on an old mountain bike that I had. It was quite easy. The GEBE is great. Totally reliable. I have ridden it almost 10,000 mile without ever having a breakdown on the road. It is very smooth and stable at 30 mph.

When you go looking for a mountian bike, bring a credit card with you(3 3/4 of an inch I think). The drive ring is 17 inches in circumference. Divide that in two because that is where the widest part will be between the rear frame stays where the drive ring runs. So that is 8.5 inches. Measure up from the axle bolt 8.5 inches. Run the credit card inbetween the rear stays. If the credit card makes it thru, the bike would be a good canidate for a GEBE.

You want at least a 20“ or 21“ hard tail mtb. Any smaller makes for difficult conversion, I know because I used a 19“and it wasn't fun.

Look for something with adjustable front suspension with lockout and disc brakes if you can.

I used this bike, they have 21“ & 23“that would fit great. I just had to use a wide frame mounting bracket

If you don't want an worry about figuring out how to mount the kit with rear discs, here is a 29er in 21“&23"

Red 22.5“ 26“wheels
