I couldn't help but notice, all the way thru the first 10 minutes,
I only saw one brave soul on a bicycle actually using the bike lane.
All the rest were riding on the sidewalk. Can't say as I blame 'em.
At 12 mph you're a sitting duck to be hit from behind.

"Thank God I'm a country boy!"

Normal pedal bicyclists are a pretty brave bunch in LA I must say. I can hit 40mph on my bike and at least one of my eyes is always glancing at my mirror to see what's coming up behind me. I cant imagine being on a regular pedal bike.

Bicyclists and pedestrians get zero respect from car drivers in LA.

Youre right though, most bicyclists here do ride on the sidewalk as much as possible except for the ones who wear spandex shorts. They don't seem to have any fear of cars, trucks or buses. Must be the spandex. LMAO

Well in Washington State it is technically illegal to ride a bike on the sidewalk.
Though I live in a small one horse dorp, there are 2 busy hwys running thru it.
I ride a pedal bike as much as a motored one, and it gets mighty damn terrifying
going thru winding mountain curves using only the white line since there is
no shoulder. I've been knocked off my bike by the side mirror of a dump truck.
The SOB didn't even slow down.

In California it's left up to the individual city as to what can be on the sidewalk. I'm glad I gotta mirror so I can see if I'm about to be run over but the most dangerous time are cars that are turning in front of you regardless of the direction they are traveling. Luckily my bike is obnoxiously loud. It sounds like a small Harley. LOL

I've got a mirror too, but in L.A. traffic I'd be afraid to look
It helps immensely if your bike has the ability to get the jump on cars, buses, and trucks at stop lights. Of course they do eventually catch up to you but only if there is no traffic in front of them. This bike has the ability to out accelerate any (normally accelerated) 4 wheel vehicle to about 35 MPH. LOL

Half of the time I'm in the middle of the street, just like I'm riding a real motorcycle, cause sometimes I have no other choice.

In my video you will see the exact same cars overtake me, then I overtake them, then they overtake me, all the way to the beach. It's a constant back and forth.

Yeah,
I have the same problem with rabbits, deer, and especially
porcupines.
If I could just be about 10mph faster, then I'd be able keep on with any car on any city street and I could leave the bike lane and the gutter for the bicyclists, forever. That is my goal in life. To get out of the gutter. LOL
