Hi guys,
I've got a Briggs Quantum 3.5hp push mower engine(converted to horizontal shaft, running nice) and it vibrates like crazy when it starts, I would like to know if it is ok to solid mount it on a bike? will the bike vibrates to pieces? I've read some comments about solid mount, most of it are dealing with 2stroke 80cc stuff. When dealing with 3.5hp engine, wouldn't be better to attach rubber on it? Please let me know what you guys think.
Cheers.

It vibrates because it is designed to use the blade as part of the flywheel effect. When I use a mower engine for a project that doesnt use the blade, I install a cast iron flywheel from a horizontial motor. Briggs also usually lists a heavy flywheel in the parts breakdown for most vertical engines. The smaller pressure washers use this flywheel. I would suggest you negoitate the flywheel issue befor you mount it or you will have vibe problems/failures in the future.
