I was browsing for some after market piston rings, and came across hard chrome/ nickel-chomium plated piston rings. The rings claim to have an anti scuffing ability, and therefore prolongs the life of the cylinder lining.
I might try this out, but have to find a place locally that have electroplating services for Nickel-chromium on piston rings.
Note that the plated surface is only on the side where the piston rings and the cylinder are in contact with.
Not really sure the effects on the compression, but I'd rather have some compression lost rather than a short lived liner...
