I guess one reaps what one sows... If you browse porn it's bound to pop up on your computer. Lol Seriously though I haven't had any come up at all.

She's back!

And I don't visit porn sites.
If you look at the upper right hand corner of that ad you'll see an 'X'. Click on it and a pull down menu will come up giving you three options as to why you don't want to see that ad again. Click on 'inappropriate' and you'll get a message that tells you the ad has been removed. Most of the time it works and you won't see it again. But then, maybe you don't mind seeing it. In that case, don't do anything but look at it.

Tom has the idea of a paid subscription to help the site out with an ad free version ever been talked about?
Paul, the owner, has always been against the idea of a 'pay site'. He has always wanted the forum to be available to everyone at no cost. The concept has been discussed but shelved unless and until the advertising becomes more of a problem than we can handle.

We strive to keep any spam and unsolicited ads at a minimum and it does take some work but Paul has also been successful at utilizing some anti-spam measures that have made our job easier. The spam-bots have a hard time getting in and members who join simply to offer items or services for sale are discouraged.

Google ads are controllable, to a point, and Paul has options in that area too.

Hmmm......somehow, it just seems appropriate to click on the "X" for a porn site ad!

xseler - yeah, I know what you're talkin about. But I still plead ignorance as I only visit art sites......??

MikeB - No, she's not the same. The first one is a blonde with a two piece outfit and the second is a brunette. And if you look close, as I always do, you'll notice she has a bar code on her bosom. It's a gift.

Tom, like I said I appreciate all you guys do to keep the experience here very enjoyable and invaluable. Please be sure I was in no way intending to complain. I simply wanted to inquire as to the origin of the interesting ads which just popped up out of nowhere. My investigation has revealed that an extremely skilled cat burglar got into my apartment, ignored my high end guitars and other valuables, got hold of my laptop and then went exploring areas on the internet where I would fear to tread. And then left quietly without leaving any trace whatsoever. I have to admire their talents.

if you see an ad that is not appropriate. (google selects the ads not me) let me know thru pm and i think i can ban them from the site. We all see different ads. google decides what to show us individually. Example is all my adds are about internet service providers which i have been searching and travel agencies which my wife has been searching

I use Firefox and Ad Block Plus. I have been a member of this forum since 2010 and nary an ad have I seen, other that the ads by the site's sponsors.

Or just plain and simply don't look at or pay attention to ads that seem to bother you........it's not a whole page spread staring you in the face I'm sure.

I've never seen Penthouse magazine or anything that ever offended me while browsing this site, honestly......close your eyes if it bothers you that much whatever it is?

Oh, it's not the "cyborg vitamin sellers" here that are the real problem, it's the incessant barrage of pop ups that spring up right in the middle of what you are trying to read on some sites. As soon as you click the X, another one pops up. And then there are the clever ones that "swim across the screen" and make it harder to click the X.

Bluhell takes care of all of them quite nicely.

If I close my eyes I won't be able to read anything, not just the stuff I don't want to see.
