Hi Guys,

Thought I'd tell you a little story... goes like this.

I was riding home the other night from the pub after having a good night out. On the way home my cycle lost all power and then backfired and died... could not get it started again so I had to peddle the rest of the way home. (glad I installed that freewheel).

Anyways, after reading allot of posts on this site, it was out to the garage to diagnose the problem.
First of all checked for spark, no spark.
Tried a new spark plug... no good. It started up but would not idle and died again with a backfire through the carbie.
Tied a new ignition lead, same story,
Checked mag key... all good
Checked wiring... all good

Time to order some parts
I ended up ordering a CDI and mag.

Parts arrived today thought I would try the CDI first because, well, it is easy to get to
After bolting on the CDI and soldering up the wires it started first pull :)

So I'm off riding again
See ya on the highways brnot
Joe

Its been my experience thats its pretty rare for a coil to go bad in general, they do but usually the problem lies elseware. This doesnt apply to GM vehicles where the coil is mounted in the frying pan.
