99cc Predator/CVT Build Thread!

Hello guys,

I decided to make this thread to document my research and current design of my HF Predator 99cc engine on a Schwinn bicycle using a comet CVT transmission.

The biggest hurdles for this build are that:
-The CVT attatches to 3/4" shaft, while the predator is a 5/8" shaft
-CVT does not align "off the bat" with the rear sprocket
-All the other stuff to do to fit the 99cc predator in the frame (throttle, gas, etc)

cool, i am working on something similar with a preddy and CVT but no secondary jackshaft, making my own CVT plate. using a lot of the same parts as you except will be making my own engine plate. Also using a 7" driven on the CVT.

looking forward to your progress. definitely takes a lot of parts sourcing and "can't do this till i get that" prerequisites.

Some progress:
Engine is mounted in the frame, and the throttle setup is working. I hooked up the muffler using the stock manifold with the can muffler removed. I used a flange pipe adapter from lowes, sanded and smoothed the bottom face, cut off the excess material, and drilled the holes for it to attatch to the stock triangle muffler atatchment.

Lookin good BeaverRat.Thanx for the list it will come in handy as many people are going with the 99cc.

Wow!....Like minds.....lol!...I was just at the hardware picking up a 3/4" street elbow and saw those flanges, but My thought was going to mod to fit to the head ,but I like Your version too!...On My first rendition of Schwinn/predator madness I went with 3/4" conduit as shown in Wayne Zs posts,I cut the flange that went into the muff,then turned the pipe and flange upsidedown and rebolted it to the head and slipped the conduit on to the stub of pipe and held with a wormgear clamp but that won't work in Your build...One thing that will is flipping Your set-up upsidedown,change the routing down and the go stright back with Your pipe...It'll get the Heat away from the crotch area!LOL! EDIT...After I looked again,You can't flip it....It'll be in the way of the driven pully!...O-well!...(Honey,wheres My damn GLASSES!)....Tigmaster....

Ok, I got the jackshaft assembly securely mounted onto the seat tube with thick metal plating to reinforce it and to eliminate any movement.

I think you should do some better clamps,somehow make them wider maybe wel a flat strap inside of the ones you have. The way they are can squese the tube and might cause cracking. Just my thoughts............Curt
