An elderly gray haired gentleman standing in line at the airport fumbling through his carryon the attendant with a very strong French accent asked him if he had ever been to France before and the old man said yes. The attendant said you should know to have your passport ready the old man said the first time I came to France I didn't need a passport the attendant said sharply that everyone has to have a passport to enter France. The old man looked him sharply in the eye and said the first time I came to France it was 70 years ago at Normandy on Omaha Beach and there wasn't a Frenchman around even if I had a passport. You could hear a pin drop.
Never forget that generation for what they did.
