The nearly one million recall spans from years 2000 to 2015. Trek have discovered a quick release with a lever opening more than it should. That lever then reportedly gets caught in the front brake of the bike while the person is riding it if it’s adjusted the wrong way, or left open.

The recall includes bikes built from 2000 to 2015 that are equipped with front disc brakes and a black or silver quick-release lever on the front wheel hub. This lever can open beyond 180 degrees, coming in contact with the disc brake.

On this link you can see all Trek recalls http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/support/safety_and_recalls/

I also read this recall may include other manufactures which I don't doubt since many of the manufactures use the same components.

If I have one of these bikes, Stop using the bicycle immediately and contact an authorized Trek retailer for free installation of a new quick release on the front wheel. You can reach the company's safety and recall hotline at 800-373-4594.

Re: Trek Bicycle recall

This recall has now expanded to Huffy Bicycles as well.

https://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2015/Huffy-Recalls-Bicycles-with-Front-Disc-Brakes/

The recalled products are all model year 2014 Huffy TR 745 and TR-S 740 bicycles with 27.5-inch wheels. “Huffy” is on the downtube of the frame of both bicycles and model name TR 745 or TR-S 740 is on the rear portion of the frame. The TR 745 has a green frame with model number 26504M on the bottom of the frame near the pedals. The TR-S 740 has a white frame and model number 26604M on the bottom of the frame near the pedals. Bicycles that have a green dot on the inside of the quick release lever are not included in this recall.

Sold at
Walmart.com, Sears Puerto Rico and The Northwest Company (Cost U Less) from September 2014 through May 2015 for between $250 to $370.
