I am seriously considering a four stroke. Is the only way to start them by using the pull starter or can they be started by popping the clutch after getting going a little bit like my two stroke?

every 4stroke kit I have seen utilizes a pull start
a few members have done builds with pitbike type engines that can be found with both electric and/or kick start

What 4 stroke motor and kit?
Most of them have centrifugal clutches so there is no clutch lever.

Show up at the meet and ride at El Dorado park Sun April 3rd
to see many styles and options with 4 strokes.

There are briggs motors that can be pop started but that's pretty
custom.
The first EZ silent drive could be started that way too.
