It sounds like you could benefit from a spring loaded chain tensioner.
Yea, been reading those threads, problem is my chain tensioner location is rather awkward due to the small chainstays on the proflex, hers some pics. Any suggestions for something I could whip up quick? was thinking of trying a single speed bicycle chainstay mounted tensioner. We have no tractor supply places that I know of in BC :(

Noooo don't say replace the shock, the whole reason I used the proflex was for the shocks lol or else I could have stuck it on my 1980's road Apollo bike and had a lot less hassle. I enjoy the process don't get me wrong, I seriously thought at first it was the motor because you could not see the chain jamming and everything looked fine. Its subtle, but as you more experienced people probably know the littlest bit of slack or offset chain can jam the tiny sprocket case.

I knew this wouldn't be simple due to the weird rear end of this bike.

The good thing about that bike is the rear suspension doesn't have a lot of travel. I think a single speed chain tensioner wouldn't work with the bigger 415 chain. I have one and will check and post in a little bit. I think your best solution would be to figure out a way to fab a spring loaded tensioner.

I just checked and the Single speed tensioner roller does work with the 415/#41 chain. You just have to remove the cage on it. I made a spring loaded tensioner out of the one from tractor supply. Maybe you can get one online and figure out a way to make it work. I attached a pic of mine and I know your bike is different but might help with ideas.

I really like tadd's design. It is very safe and sturdy.
Tractor supply does sell stuff online.
A call out to everybody: Does anyone know the part # for that tensioner?
I looked on T.S.'s online store and could not find it.

part number for tensioner is: 5510238

part number for spring is: 5510254 (I didn't use this spring, it doesn't work well with this application but you can check it out)

part number for the #41 chain is: 1150052 and extra master links: 1151058

what if the solid roller was moved forward on the bike tube (and the chain shortened a bit) and then put the spring tentioner where the solid one is now ??

Oh there we go, nice... what are you using to clamp the metal plate to the stays?

I think I can fix up something like that with the parts I have laying around, provided I have enough clearance.
Gonna go give it a try.
