My kid was bicycling down the Old King's Highway just the other day and had an equipment failure. Good thing he was going slowly, and just put his foot down when he felt a wobble in the steering... and the fork spring shot up over hime as the wheel turned to one side!

This is a Specialized Hard Rock Pro, with Marzocchi front suspension fork.
This is supposedly quality products!
The bike has NOT been raced DH and rarely jumped, as he uses it for transportation around town, generally on level streets, probably with a minimum of curb hopping.

I think I'll call Specialized, and Marzocchi, on this failure, and ask for a replacement fork. It should NOT have broken as it did, and the failure could have led to a significant lawsuit if it had occurred to someone else.

...just one other problem that might occur to a motorized bicycle with far worse consequences! I certainly would have considered this to be a desirable
set of front forks!

Oh great, another thing to worry about... :( jk. I can only imagine that happening at motorized bicycle speed (*knocks wood*).

Glad your boy is okay and noticed it in time to stop safely.
