I finally broke down and got a digital bathroom scale from ebay, and weighed my builds and a motor.

Results-

A Chrome 66 motor with intake and NT Speed carb- 12.5 lbs.

My 50 cc Orange Huffy cruiser
700 C wheels, alloy bars and stem and converted alloy crank
with basket removed but with rack and nylon bags (tools removed)
and over a half tank of gas-

49lbs, estimated weight w/o gas- 47 lbs

also found on internet that gas weighs 1.62 lbs per liter

My 66 Micargo cruiser
with heavier shock fork
heavier 27 x 1 1/4 wheels (alloy rims)
heavier long Poo poo pipe
and with basket clamped on- to bars with worm clamps- too lazy to remove
not much gas in tank

54 lbs.

adjusted for fuel: 53 lbs

A little heavier than I imagined but not bad for bikes that can cruise at 25 and 30 respectively

Red Huffy Cruiser- ready to build but no motor parts on yet
same frame as orange Huffy- heavier wider 700 tires and rims to eventually accomodate bigger baskets- front and saddllebag rear
steel bars, steel one piece crank with tiny 25 sprocket and 17 single freewheel:

29 lbs.

The kits seem to add about 18 lbs for me, and that's w/o tensioners, and with lighter 415 trike chains- both have some titanium cover bolts that save maybe 1/4 lb. Both have alloy sprockets- one on a rag joint, one bolted to the hub.

anyway, there it is. Not many lighter I don't imagine.

I'd like to see a motor kit that adds 15 lbs or less

I think I might have you beat on weight, my rig weighs 65lbs with a light load of fuel, full weight with a full tank is like somewhere around 67lbs.

Oh, wait, you want lighter, my bad. :D
