I am going to be finishing my predator 99 build soon and need good tires. I'm thinking maybe 2.125. Pirate Cycles has some, are they tough enough to go 40mph? At only $15 it's tempting... I like the brick pattern tires. I need high speed stability, and balloon tires will not work for my bike.

Just get a good quality, name brand tire.

I routinely have this bike up to 40mph on downhill runs, no issues, and that's on a 26x1.5 tire.

Kenda tires are pretty tough, and reasonably priced. I'm running K-Rad 26 x 2.3" on my bike. They also come in 2.125

Here's a pic of my bike with a 2.3 on the rear and a 1.95 on the front.

I'd go with Kenda or Maxxis.

I have 2.75 maxxis on the front rubbing the fork, I even took a file and some scissors, could not get the side knobs worn down much. Even after 30 miles they still rub less then 1/8th an inch. I can't say it's a great tire yet but I'll be throwing the rear maxxis on soon too at around 30 (Mine are super knobbly) feels and sounds like a swamp mudder truck XD
