I took it up the steep-est hills around today and the clutch is rock solid.
When starting, it helps to sit down on the seat when letting out the clutch to help keep the rear wheel from skidding due to the compression.
The clutch is 100% functional with no additional spring tension required.
Subjectively, the clutch has a better feel as well. You can actually modulate
it like a standard motorcycle clutch. All in all, a great result for no additional money.

Every motor kit I've purchased needed the pads to be trimmed like what you did. After that every one of them worked perfectly like your is doing now, and never needed any further attention.
