I have a simple question. In every picture of the 4 stroke carb there is a plastic tube attached to the metal tube which points toward the ground on the same side as the fuel intake. What does that metal tube pointing down do? And where is the other end of the plastic tubing attached to it supposed to be placed? I can't seem to find that information anywhere!

Could you show us a picture.....it might help answer your question. I'm not quite sure which tube you're talking about.......? I would naturally assume it is either a vent tube or the overflow for the float bowl as there is not much else.

Best guess is that is a vent tube, either to the ambient air or to the engine (on some models) to draw vapor to be recirculated. I know that quite a few B&S engines have a recirculation tube. What engine do you have and any idea what carburetor that is?
