Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with the speeddemon.ca 4-stroke? It's at a great price point, but I am wary since it's a no-name...

Thanks!

With these kits you get what you're willing to pay for. I personally use Staton Inc. I'm sure somebody here will be able to tell you something about that kit.

Hi,

I ordered one, possibly the first kit. Lots of issues:

- Motor plate doesnt fit motor mounts.

- Chain supplied is absolutely never been seen before, very non standard.
( 5/16" 8mm) pitch. And was way too short.

- No pedals supplied to clear the motor.

Good news, The company (available only by email) did send me the
missing pedals, and a second chain. However with no master links,
supplied, (or available - anywhere) it isn't much good.

I've built my own motor mount, Swapped out some childrens pedals
to clear the motor, and now looking for an all new front and rear sprocket
with 'standard' chain. However today a bike & motorcycle shop says the motor spline is non standard, so new sprokets are going to be hard to machine.

I have no idea how many people have bought these, but the parts
do not fit well together. The motor looks okay, and available anywhere.

I'll post more, if/when I finish it.

I wouldn't rule them out yet.

All that's needed is to stich one chain from two. I'm headed
to a Stihl dealer and try use the existing links.

Otherwise I can't wait to let it run!
Will try to post some pics.

it is always a red flag when they won't show the trans (gear-reduction)
that usually means it is one of several hoot versions that are still being sold ;),,,
none of which have good reputations :(

Just an FYI / Update on this 4 Stroke kit.

I would recommend anyone buying this to look closely at the Clutch system.
The two stroke's I'd seen had manual clutches, so its very easy to "Roll Start" like an old car. Just peddle, release the clutch and run.

The centrifugal clutch means always having to pull start. (Unless anyone knows a trick, I'm unaware of..) There's also a huge mechanical drag with this system. Basically, you can't peddle at all, engine off, with this transmission.

Second the "Hill Climbing" capability is just not there. Runs great on level surface, but even a few % grade, it doesnt cut it at all. Where I live its all hills. But that's my specific need.

So, for my project I'm going to try redirect the chain drive to the rear
gear shifters next, that way I can at least 'gear down' to grunt up an incline.

The bikes's finished, will post some Pics asap. Loooks great.

Re: SpeedDemon Bike kits.

Stay away from this seller.
- He does not answer emails,
- Promises to send patrs, and does not
- there is NO telephone number
- Kit parts are generally of poor quality (Engine is standard, and okay)
- parts do not fit well together, non standard chain is impossible to service

Recommends on anyone buying a kit:
- 4Stroke engine is okay
- Get a Manual Clutch!
- Make sure its standard Size Chain.

SpeedDemon bike kits from Ian, are not worth hassle
